I mentioned yesterday that the Guardian’s Weekend magazine is getting a new design from next Saturday. Weekend’s art director Maggie Murphy kindly asked me to do the cover this morning, so here’s a preview

We’re moving

December 1st, 2008

The Guardian is moving to new premises in London’s King’s Cross over the next few weeks. It’s a remarkable building; we share it with two orchestras and there are concert halls and art galleries as well as the office space. We also did a great deal on furniture as the recession began to bite, and it’s something of a museum of classic twentieth-century design. The picture above shows the soft seating area next to my (future) desk; I think I’ve spotted Harry Bertoia, Charles & Ray Eames, Jasper Morrison, Warren Platner and Patricia Urquiola… But I don’t recognise the high-back chair. Can anyone enlighten me?

A flattering and very faithful hommage to the Guardian’s Weekend magazine: BHMagazino, a supplement to TO BHMA from Greece. Thanks to Costia Khoury for the tip.

Excuse the low-light iphone pictures!

Guardian updates

July 22nd, 2008

The last two big sections of guardian.co.uk have been updated — culture and life & style went on to the new platform last night, and I’m starting to feel like a marathon runner who can see the tape after 26 miles.

It’s a strange feeling to see these new sites going up, as they’re based on design decisions we made over two years ago. But now that the end of the massive migration project is almost here, it’s finally to start thinking about making it all better, hooray!

Good show…
