The new Business Week

Interesting post on the NYT mag redesign…

…over at the SPD blog. Its always amazing, and slightly scary, to see the resources that go into high-end American magazines. To British eyes its undoubtedly impressive, but I often get the feeling that the effort and manpower expended is out of proprtion to the results. In this case the ideas, the commissioning and some of the spreads are fantastic. But I cant say I think the new design is an improvement on the old one, and the format is definitely worse.

Noma Bar, The Guardian and me, in Varoom….

The latest issue of the Association of Illustrators’ magazine Varoom, has a contribution from me and my team. They asked a few art directors to choose an illustrator or illustration that defines the decade, and we chose Noma Bar. Internazionale column

To my surprise, I’ve been asked to write a short column every couple of weeks for an Italian magazine called Internazionale (I write in English, they translate). It’s a culturally aware audience with an interest in design, but not much specialist knowledge.
