Guardian updates

The last two big sections of guardian.co.uk have been updated — culture and life & style went on to the new platform last night, and I’m starting to feel like a marathon runner who can see the tape after 26 miles.

It’s a strange feeling to see these new sites going up, as they’re based on design decisions we made over two years ago. But now that the end of the massive migration project is almost here, it’s finally to start thinking about making it all better, hooray!

The results of the Russian competition I judged are now up here, but don’t bother if you don’t speak Russian. No pictures of the papers (just far too many of the judges) but I’ll try to get some from the organisers. In brief, the big winners were Vedomosti, Moscow; Delovoy Petersburg, St. Petersburg ; Hronica, St. Petersburg; Akzia, Moscow; Moy Rayon, Moscow; and Nasha Vologda, Vologda

Lots of great stuff on the founding and glory days of New York magazine in the current issue, a tribute after the death last week of original proprietor and editor Clay Felker. You can read it all on the website, and there’s a gallery of classic Felker/Glaser covers too
